Viber : The app synonymous with Free Calls & Messages!!

Viber - Free Phone Calls is, as it's name indicates, an application that allows you to make phone calls for completely free.

To use it, of course, you will need to have a compatible Android device with WiFi connection, and the contact that you wish to call must also have to the application installed on their device. If not, then you will not be able to contact them using the service.

Once you have the app on your device, all you have to do is let it access your contacts and, in a matter of seconds, you will be able to make phone calls with pretty good audio without paying for anything other than the Internet connection, for which WiFi is recommended as opposed to 3G, being that using 3G you will probably spend more on data fees than you would for the phone.

Viber - Free Phone Calls is a very useful app that allows its users to save a lot of money on phone calls. What's more, it is very easy to use and configures your contacts automatically. All very comfortable.

Mobile Messaging App DOG Fight : WhatsApp Vs. Viber Vs. WeChat!!

This is the generation of ‘smartphone holders’. Yes we are talking about you. If you are reading this, chances are your smartphone is no further than 3 feet from you and you sometimes hear custom notification alerts for your email, messages and updates even when nothing new came in.

All 3 apps allow you to send text, photos, videos and location data – ‘basic functions’ as it is also found in other messaging apps. You certainly can have more fun on WeChat as it comes with a wide variety of communication and social features built to expand your networking circles.
Viber and WeChat also support voice calls if you want to make free calls with your friends or family members, however, if you just want to contact your friends via text messaging, WhatsApp will suffice.
Although you can turn off Google Analytics on Viber, it poses a privacy issue for those who don’t know about this default data collection mode (but now you do).
WeChat offers a lot of social features but provides privacy settings to disable them, and the requirement of adding a contact means random people cannot message you. But if you purely want a messaging app just to contact the friends you already have on your Contact list, for free, then stick with WhatsApp.
It boils down to your needs, if you find yourself changing devices a lot then WeChat gives you the option to easily do that without losing any chat history. Viber keeps it simple by backing up only text (no media) and if you are opting for WhatsApp, we suggest you have a look at their FAQ page for more backup instructions for your OS and device
As a conclusion, these 3 apps are amazing tools for communication offering more than a regular SMS service, without the need to pay for sending messages. However, these messaging apps may face competition from the rise of Facebook Messenger, Hangouts (formerly known as Google Talk) and Skype which could possibly replace these apps later on.

What’s Rakuten’s Plan for Viber? Ask Us!

Rakuten’s purchase of messaging service Viber is just the latest signal of the Japanese e-commerce company’s ambitious global expansion plans—and could be a sign of quicker expansion in the future.
Just ask one of Rakuten’s previous targets, Wuaki.tv founder Jacinto Roca.
The Barcelona-based TV-and-movie streaming site, launched in 2010, offers an array of new Hollywood movies and local content both à-la-carte and in subscriptions similar to offerings from NetflixNFLX -1.46% and Amazon.
After Rakuten bought the site in 2012, it quickly jumped into the UK market. Now, pushed by Rakuten, it is exploring launches in France, Germany and Italy as early as this year, Mr. Roca said.
“Rakuten has been very aggressive on international expansion,” said Mr. Roca, a former venture capitalist who remains Wuaki.tv’s CEO. “They have been acquiring companies all over the globe.”
The quick expansion offers a window into Rakuten’s broader strategy of buying and then expanding a suite of overlapping businesses— from e-commerce sites to digital-content bazaars— that can build off each other.

In the UK for instance, Rakuten e-commerce acquisition play.com had millions of customers that could use their existing accounts to rent and buy movies from Wuaki, Mr. Roca said. Going forward, he notes that Rakuten has e-commerce sites in France and Germany, while its Kobo e-book business is present in Italy.
“Our plan is to be global as fast as possible, following the synergies with Rakuten group companies,” Mr. Roca said. “The intention is to move as fast as possible.”

Free calls app Viber at 90 mn users, adds group messaging feature

Smartphone app Viber which has stormed on to the mobile scene, challenging services like Skype and WhatsApp, has announced version 2.2 of its popular call services. Offering free calls and free messages, the service has also hit 90 million users across the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows operating systems.
In a statement the company said it had added 20 million users in just over two months. Those users are now spending more than 1.5 billion minutes on calls and sending over two billion text messages each month.

And with its new group messaging feature available on iOS, Android and BlackBerry beta, this number is only set to grow further.
The move, according to tech site TheNextWeb, means that Viber isn’t challenging services like Skype, iMessage and WhatsApp anymore, but also group messaging tools like GroupMe, CloudTalk, Celly, textPlus and Reach Alert, among others.

The new update also promises better call quality and various user interface enhancements. The update for Android also includes support for nine new languages with additional languages “coming very soon” for all Viber-supported platforms.

According to the Giga Om website, “Viber’s fast growth will only ratchet up fears that users will reduce their dependence on voice and texting plans. It’s going to force carriers to get creative with pricing, something we’re seeing with the new shared family plans from Verizon and AT&T.”
